New Life Program for Engineers in mid-life career
a pioneer program from SHALNITZ imagineering@work - Abdul Nizam.
Introduction:
With the rapid pace of change in information and communications technologies, it is quite commonplace to see that most professionals of disciplines other than ICTs do get left out or over taken in their use of software tools and techniques for their day to day professional work. And engineers are no exception in this regard, though every one of them is of a technology savvy mind. But why? Particularly because of pressure of work and life in their mid-life career.
This SmartG New Life program is tailored to answer this specific need of most engineers in this country; and it is based on my personal experience, study and research as I walk through life as an ICT Specialist for over 25 years.
To keep abreast, one must put in special attention, and adequate time and effort in learning the new and acquiring new skills of the smarter generation, younger but ahead of us. And, mind you, please rest assured that once you as an engineer do gain adequate knowledge of the new, you can outsmart any such challenge that arise with time: Yes, you can find a good new job even if you are past 40 - solid core professional engineering experience armed with leading edge tools and techniques - not at all an easy to find commodity among the younger generations, however smart they happen to be.
What more? It is we engineers that create what there is not, and propel our society forward in to more advanced civilization. Our long lost and most illustrious heritage of excellence in irrigation engineering in this country is a good pointer to what can be regained again: but in ICTs and other new domains of engineering - if we do aspire and set out in the right direction, at the right time - never too late.
This SmartG New Life program is my small effort in that direction. And this will prove to be a stimulating 'learning to learn on your own using world wide web' workshop that is certain to launch you in to a wonderful new experience that rejuvenates both intellectual and professional life.
with a warm welcome
